Don Davis brings over 50 years of experience in the lumber industry, with a career built on hard work, operational knowledge, and long-standing industry relationships. He currently serves as a Senior Trader at Utah Lumber and is the owner of Sawtooth Lumber Products, a company he launched in 2025 in partnership with Utah Lumber.

 

Don began his career in September 1974 with A&R Lumber Sales, where he spent his first two years managing yard operations and trucking logistics before transitioning into sales and wholesale distribution. Early in his career, he also gained valuable mill sales experience working with Hobin Lumber Co. and Gregory Lumber Co., helping build the foundation for his extensive market knowledge and customer relationships.

 

In 1985, Don relocated to Oregon and joined Oregon McKenzie Lumber, where he worked in sales, remanufacturing, and wholesale distribution. He later spent several years with Timber Products from 1990 to 1994 in their lumber department before returning to Oregon McKenzie Lumber for another chapter of his career.

 

Don went on to help establish and operate a remanufacturing and distribution yard, along with a pre-fabricated wall plant, through Norton Forest Products in Myrtle Creek. After decades of leadership and experience throughout the industry, he departed Norton Forest Products in February 2025 to launch Sawtooth Lumber Products, which now works in partnership with Utah Lumber to continue serving customers throughout the industry.

 

Known for his deep understanding of the lumber business and his relationship-driven approach, Don has built a respected reputation throughout the industry over the course of his career.

 

Outside of work, Don enjoys spending time with his wife, three children, grandson, and great-grandson. He is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys salmon and steelhead fishing, along with fly fishing whenever he gets the opportunity.
